Bees are BEEautiful!
We all depend on the survival of bees
Bees pollinate our plants, which means they carry pollen between plants of different sexes to fertilise them, or even between different parts of the same plant, which help plants reproduce. Bees even help plants survive by preventing inbreeding.
Pollination is, a necessary process for the survival of our ecosystems. Nearly 90% of the world’s wild flowering plant species depend on animal pollination, including more than 75% of the world’s food crops and 35% of global agricultural land. Bees ensure food security, and they are key to conserving biodiversity.
Today, May 20 is World Bee Day! The goal of World Bee Day is to educate people about the importance of bees (and other pollinators), to protect them and their habitats.
