Canada - the country of lakes!

Did you know, more than half of all the lakes in the world are located in Canada!?

The country has 62% of all the lakes in the world with 31,700 big lakes with an area over 300 hectares!  

The Great Lakes, straddling the Canada-U.S. boundary, contain 18% of the world's fresh lake water.

The lake systems in Canada are a source of lots of tourism with beautiful views, options for swimmming, fishing, canoeing and other recreation in summer and of course ice skating on some lakes in winter!
