St Patrick's Day
St Patrick's Day is celebrated all over the world on March 17th. It is a celebration of St Patrick, who was the patron saint of Ireland, and now it is celebration all things Irish!
People wear green - based on the tradition that says wearing green makes you invisible to leprechauns! Green decorations are usually on display on St Patrick's Day, with lots of shamrocks - three leaf clovers. There are often four leaf clovers as well which symbolise good luck!
The Chicago River in Illinois is even turned green for St Patricks Day every year. This tradition started back in 1962 when the local Plumbers Union dumped green dye into the river! (The dye is non toxic and food grade so it's safe!)
